I don't think enough people hard core drag race their Z's to really have definite knowledge on which part gives out first. I'm not sure if the half shafts break easily on the Z or not, but from going to the track and looking at other cars, it seems the Honda's break their half shafts a lot, I see Neons breaking them a lot, I see Camaros breaking them, I see Mustangs breaking them, I see DMS's breaking them... it seems that they are the weak point on most cars. Maybe the engineers intentionally make the easiest part to replace the weak link in the chain, if they gave cars really strong half shafts, then something else would have to give out. I don't think the diff will break, they're really strong on our cars. Especially the TT's, they have 9" rears in them. Nissan rears are tough. There's even a 280Z with a 383 stroker running 9's@149+ mph on the stock Datsun R200 rear.
